How Great is Alexandre Lacazette? Latest Transfer ArsenalArsenal officially completed the signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon at a cost of Rp 802 billion for a five-year contract.
The cost – which could add up to Rp 907 billion with these bonuses – would – surpass the cost Arsenal had paid to Real Madrid to bring in Mesut Ozil in 2013, Rp 732 billion.
“He has very interesting technical qualities and strong character,” said Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.
The 26-year-old is expected to travel with the squad this weekend for two friendly matches in Sydney next week.
The match will be followed by a game against Bayern Munich in Shanghai the following week.
Lacazette, who has won 11 caps for France, was second top scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 28 goals. He scored 129 goals in 275 games in all competitions for Lyon, qualifying for the first team in the 2009-10 season.
Wenger added: “We are very Alexandre joining us. He has shown over the last few years that he can score goals and he is a very efficient finisher. ”
“So he is the one who is a great addition to us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level of the season.”
The striker, who has 100 league goals for Lyon in 203 appearances, is keen to stand out at club level to be called up for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
Lacazette also hopes to play in the Champions League next season, a competition in which Arsenal failed to qualify after only a fifth place finish, but the disappointment could be reduced by the club’s new ambitions in the transfer market under Arsene Wenger this summer.
